The home on East 72nd Street got a “refined” redesign from a star designer
A dignified Upper East Side townhouse has hit the market, listed at a refined $7.25 million. According to the brokerbabble, the place has been “designed and decorated to the highest standards”—and indeed, the four-bedroom abode appears to be suitably fancy, whether you are entertaining foreign dignitaries in the “perfectly proportioned living room” or you’re relaxing with friends in “the most charming dining room.”
It’s got that classic Upper East Side look going for it with a few dramatic design touches, courtesy of interiors expert Jeffrey Bilhuber, who has worked on many a fancy residence in New York City. His firm redid the space in bright colors, bold patterns, though some spaces—the wood-paneled library, for instance—are more subdued.
The garden floor has that charming dining room, a den with floor-to-ceiling windows (leading out to the private garden), and a sleek kitchen outfitted with “only top appliances.” The parlor floor holds the living room and the library, while the top two floors have the bedrooms, each with an ensuite bath. There’s also a backyard and a renovated basement, which is big enough for the laundry room, storage, and—were you so inclined—a private gym.
