Prices at this 16-unit project start from $1.425 million
Sales are now underway on two adjacent four-story condo buildings in Fort Greene that were once deemed too out of character with the neighborhood by local residents. Developer East River Partners took that feedback and hired Barry Rice Architects to create a new contextual design, and now the project’s 16 apartments are up for grabs.
The buildings, located at 164 South Oxford Street and 171 South Portland Avenue feature a mix of one, two, three, and four-bedrooms. Both buildings share a 60-foot rear garden space. At 164 South Oxford, prices start at $1.425 million for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit spanning 1,072 square feet. At 171 South Portland prices start at $1.725 million for a one-bedroom, 1.5 bath that spans 1,431 square feet.
Most of the units come with some amount of outdoor space, and of the 16 apartments there are a few garden penthouses duplexes as well. Some of the standout features in the apartment include honed marble countertops and backsplashes in the kitchen, marble floors and stone walls in the bathroom, and high ceilings.
“The individual buildings contain unique details that harken back to the 19th century historic Ft Greene architecture on the brownstone blocks, while the residences themselves will appeal to the 21st-century buyer looking for a luxurious home,” Joseph Cohen, a co-founder of East River Partners, said in a statement. Construction on the project is expected to wrap up in the spring of 2017.
The project came about after East River Partners purchased the two properties in 2014 for $7.5 million. The developer has described the property on South Oxford as being conceived in “Federal style with stately brick and a grand Mansard,” and the one on South Portland as having a “Parisian 1920’s aesthetic.”
